“I would say that Republicans have a path to holding the House, but they kind of have to pitch a perfect game at this point in the cycle.”

With less than 70 days until midterm elections, Democrats remain favored to regain the majority in the U.S. House. President Donald Trump’s anemic approval ratings amid the war in Iran, concerns over the economy and a coalitional shift within the party mark some of the largest headwinds facing Republicans heading into November, according to election analysts and political scientists interviewed by States Newsroom.

Coloradans can use a new mobile driver’s license to get through security checkpoints at all airports in Colorado, including Denver International Airport, and other airports across the country, Gov. Jared Polis announced Monday. U.S. Transportation Security Administration will now accept a Colorado mobile driver’s license, or mDL, through the myColorado mobile app or a mobile phone’s digital wallet as proof of identity. “We have been working on this for years and now the federal government will accept your myColorado app identification at airport security,” Polis said in a statement.

Latino Americans are 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than white Americans, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. In Colorado, nearly a quarter of the overall population identifies as Hispanic or Latino. As Coloradans age, more individuals and families in these communities will be affected by dementia. In 2024, author Hillary Lum’s research team convened eight Latino caregivers as research advisers to help improve studies in dementia palliative care. This is an example of community-engaged research, the practice of including in the research process the perspectives of the individuals and communities that research aims to help. Individuals who are part of such studies often describe it this way: “nothing about us without us.”
